The atomic bomb and accidents at Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, and Fukushima have made nuclear power synonymous with global disaster. But what if our long-held fears of nuclear power are wrong? Pandora's Promiseexplores whether this misunderstood technology could be a way to help combat the climate change crisis and provide the energy needed to lift billions of people in the developing world out of poverty.
Directed by Academy-Award-nominee Robert Stone and produced by Impact Partners in association with Vulcan Productions, Pandora's Promise is a provocative documentary that tells the stories of environmentalists and energy experts who risked their careers and reputations by publicly coming out as pro-nuclear.
By dismantling myths and misunderstandings around nuclear energy, Pandora's Promise is changing minds and inspiring broad discussions about one of the most critical issues of our time. This groundbreaking film is igniting a broad movement to support nuclear power as a viable energy solution for the future.
SEEING IS JUST THE BEGINNING
Pandora's Promise premiered to great acclaim at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, immediately prompting audiences to reconsider their perceptions of nuclear energy. After each screening of the film, the director asked for a show of hands of people who had – over just 90 minutes – changed their minds about nuclear power. Each time, the audience became a forest of outstretched hands.
The film will be released in select theaters nationwide on June 12, 2013. Pandora's Promise will premiere on CNN/U.S. in November 2013 following its U.S. theatrical release.
Seeing this film is the first step in making nuclear a key part of our discussions about the energy crisis.
