Oona Layolle is French-Colombian and the Sea Shepherd Captain of the M/V Farley Mowat in the Sea of Cortez, Gulf of California Mexico. This conservation campaign is trying to save the most endangered, almost extinct porpoise, the vaquita. In this dangerous world of conservation, criminals are illegally catching a protected fish, the totoaba, to sell to the Chinese for thousand of dollars a kilo, and the vaquita is caught as by-catch putting it on the verge of extinction. Oona has forged a unique relationship with the Mexican Navy to help save an endangered species. This is all happening with the fear of retribution from the Mexican cartels who are involved in the ‘aquatic cocaine’ totoaba trade with China.
